MNJP Ltd was incorporated on 15th September 2011 and is owned by Malindi Farmers' Cooperative Society Limited which is comprised of 364 medium and small-scale farmers. Through the support from Micro Enterprises Support Programme Trust, MFCS got a loan of Ksh 125.5 Million for purchase of mango processing equipment. The factory can process 50MT of mangoes a day and can also process 75 MT of passion fruits a day.
The company faced various operational challenges eg inefficiencies due to missing equipment, lack of working capital and lack of adequate market which made the company operate at a loss. All equipment are now in place hence challenge due to inefficiencies was solved. However, working capital and marketing challenges are in the process of being solved. |
