Oman: Turkish firm wins $277m Duqm Port contract

A Turkish engineering firm has been awarded a contract to build the infrastructure of the commercial quay at the Port of Duqm in Oman, according to reports. Serka Taahhut Insaat, a subsidiary of Abdali Holding, was awarded the RO 107 million ($277m) contract, according to the Oman Daily Observer. Works include the construction of roads and the development of a port operation zone, and are expected to complete by around 2019, it was reported. Upcoming BMW 8 Series to include M8

Earlier in the year, BMW attempted to keep the BMW 8 series return quiet. That didn’t work as the internet slowly flooded with rumours of its return, and if you looked a little deeper, there was something a little juicier. Those rumours are 100% true and to make it even more exciting, the German brand is to head the series with a performance version named the M8. BMW hasn’t confirmed if the M8 is to be produced in coupe or sedan form. If they go for the two-door setup, they can take the fight straight to the Bentley Continental GT Speed and Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG coupe. If they decide to build a sedan model, the Porsche Panamera and Mercedes S-Class sedan are on the radar. A convertible version is also said to be on the table. Powering the flagship model of the BMW 8 Series is a brand V8 4-litre petrol engine aided by two turbochargers. $41 million project to house 8,000 by UAE facilities management firm

Markus Oberlin, CEO of Farnek, said: “We have purchased the freehold plot for approximately $13 million and have appointed Arif & Bintoak, a multi-disciplinary architectural and engineering firm, to create and build the design, which will cost an additional $27 million.” Situated opposite the Expo 2020 Dubai site and close to Al Maktoum International Airport, and spreading over an area of 9.2 ha, the new smart centre will be home to 8,000 employees. Jet Airways to launch route from Sharjah to Kozhikode

Jet Airways will step up services on the UAE-India route with the introduction of a daily flight from Sharjah to Kozhikode. The new service will be introduced on October 30, 2016 with the inbound flight departing Kozhikode at 9.25pm (IST) and arriving in Sharjah at 11.55pm UAE time. The outbound flight will depart Sharjah at 4.20pm (UAE) and arrive in Kozhikode at 9.45pm (IST). This new service will make Kozhikode the third Indian city to be connected by Jet Airways from Sharjah, adding to the daily flights that the airline already operates from the Emirate to Kochi and Mangaluru. Emaar Hospitality Group has unveiled details of its Address Jumeirah Resort + Spa to be built near Jumeirah Beach Residences in Dubai Marina. Dubai hotel sector upgrades services to attract new visitors

The hotel industry in Dubai is evolving to cater for young “millennial” travellers who want to explore and dine on a budget, industry experts have said. While still known for its palatial properties and lavish settings, delegates at The Hotel Show Dubai said the emirate is moving towards a catering for a much broader range of visitor. UAE exports tipped to hit Dhs1.3 trillion this year

The value of the UAE’s exports of goods and services is on the rise, the Ministry of Economy (MoE) has said. News agency WAM reported that the MoE is predicting that exports will top Dhs1.3 trillion for 2016 – up from by Dhs1.25 trillion in 2015. The prediction came in a report issued by the ministry on the development of foreign trade for the second quarter, ending June 2016.
