The delayed IMG Worlds of Adventure theme park is set to open its doors to visitors this summer, according to the developer of the 1.5 million sq ft project.
The $1 billion indoor attraction, which was originally scheduled to open in 2014, will now open on August 15, according to IMG Group.
It is set to compete with the under-construction Dubai Parks & Resorts theme park project, which is scheduled to open just two months later.
The IMG Worlds of Adventure project, which is to open year-round, is owned by Ilyas & Mustafa Galadari Group (IMG Group).
“With the capacity to welcome more than 30,000 people a day we anticipate 4.5 million guests in our first full year of operation, contributing to Dubai’s position as a leading tourism hub,” Ilyas Galadari and Mustafa Galadari said in a joint statement.
The theme park has four zones themed around the Cartoon Network, Marvel, the Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure and IMG Boulevard. A 12-screen Novo Cinema is to open shortly after August 15, the statement added.
