Emirates to increase non-stop flights between Dubai and Melbourne

Emirates is to increase its non-stop flights between Dubai and Melbourne from October.

Currently one of Emirates' two daily services between the two cities operates via the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur in both directions but these flights will become non-stop from October 30.

The change will save passengers around two hours and 30 minutes on current travel time between Dubai and Melbourne.

The new non-stop Dubai-Melbourne flight (EK408) will be operated using a Boeing 777-300ER departing Dubai at 03.00 for arrival in Australia at 23.20. The return (EK409) will depart Melbourne at 06.00 to arrive in Dubai at 13.05.

The move means that Emirates will reduce daily flights between Dubai and Kuala Lumpur from four to three from October 30.

"Emirates is currently working with travel agents and tour operators regarding alternative travel plans for passengers booked for travel to Kuala Lumpur on the EK408 or EK409 services after October 30," said the airline in a statement.

Emirates and codeshare partner Qantas offer a total of four daily flights between Dubai and Melbourne.
