The Abu Dhabi government has approved investment of $65.67 million (AED241 million) for development of infrastructure projects within the emirate, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Executive Council sanctioned funds which includes $15m (AED55m) for increasing capacity of Al Ain electricity grid, $12.26m (AED45m) for upgrading electricity loads transfer programme in new Zakher and Powerhouse in Al Ain City, $20.71m (AED76m) for maintenance and restoration of internal roads and bridges in Abu Dhabi mainland (south).

It also approved $5.72m (AED21m) for maintenance, restoration and asset management projects for main roads in western sector (Region 3) and $11.44m (AED42m) for construction of internal roads and infrastructure in Al Falah area, WAM reported.

Funds were also allocated for a project related to soil treatment and quality improvement, and design and development of a training incubator at the General Women’s Union headquarters in Abu Dhabi to promote self-employment among Emirati families.
