Emirates becomes first UAE carrier to fly to Cambodia

Emirates has launched its thirteenth route in South East Asia – to Phnom Penh in Cambodia. The new daily service flies to Phnom Penh via Yangon in Myanmar, but through passengers do not disembark. Emirates said it offers more choice and convenience to passengers travelling between Phnom Penh to Dubai and beyond. It also marks the first time since 2014 that Phnom Penh and Yangon were connected by a direct air link – bypassing Bangkok – serving serving increasing demand for travel between the two fast-developing cities. The Phnom Penh flight leaves Dubai at 9.15am, departing Yangon at 6.55pm and landing in Phnom Penh at 9.25pm local time. The route is served by a Boeing 777-300 and offers business and economy class seats. Phnom Penh is Cambodia’s largest city and the most important commercial centre, driving a large part of the country’s economic growth. The main tourism draw in Cambodia is the ruined city of Angkor, 320 kilometres outside the capital near Siem Reap, but Phnom Penh, with a popularion of around 2 million, is becoming an increasingly important tourism and business destination. Etihad also operates services to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh, but they are indirect flights that require a change to a local carrier at Bangkok International Airport.
