Dubai-based Yellow Door Energy (YDE), a provider of lease-to-own solar energy solutions for commercial and industrial energy consumers, announced on Monday it has signed an agreement for construction, operation and maintenance of a 205 kilowatt peak (kWp) solar PV plant at cladding systems manufacturer Middle East Insulation’s newest facility in Dubai Investment Park (DIP) for 15 years. In a press statement on its website, YDE said construction on the project will commence this month with the plant expected to be operational by year-end. The new plant, which is part of Middle East Insulation’s commitment to transfer to green manufacturing activities, will provide 347,000 kWh of electricity per year and reduce CO2 emissions by 244 tonnes annually, which is equivalent to planting 6,320 tree seedlings per year, the statement said. In March, YDE signed a deal to install 615 kWp solar PV plant at the AMI Middle East’s logistics facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone, which it will construct, operate and maintain for 25 years. Shams Dubai initiative, launched by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, allows residential and commercial customers to install solar PV systems on their rooftops to generate electricity and export the surplus to the DEWA grid.
