Scrap Market For Building Materials Completed


The project which cost of $27.2m (AED100m) is located in the Warsan neighborhood. Its building area spans 43,000m2 on 11ha of land.

The market consists of a main building that comprises 71 shops, fast food outlets, public services, a market administration office, a masjid for men and women, 80 parking spaces for trucks, 53 outdoor display outlets, a loading and unloading area, and 760 parking spaces for visitors.

Director general of Dubai Municipality, Eng Hussain Nasser Lootah,  said: "The scrap market for building materials is the actualization of the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to build a green economy and preserve the country’s resources and establish an environmentally sustainable city, as well as to apply the highest standards of quality and excellence, in order to preserve the environment and society."

Construction works have also been completed on a market building for used furniture and utensils according to Dubai Municipality

In a statement, the authority revealed that the location of the second building is Nadd Al Sheba-3 and includes 120 shops, a restaurant area, as well as an external plaza, amarket administration office, service buildings, toilets, and other facilities.

$21m (AED77m) was the cost of the furniture and utensils market which has a building area of 28,800m2 on 17ha land.
