FEWA to complete $86m worth of projects in Ajman by 2018


The Federal Electricity and Water Authority (FEWA) has announced that it is currently working on seven water development projects worth a total of $86m (AED315m) in different areas in Ajman.

The projects include the construction of a 1,000-mm water line in the port, Al Bustan and Karama areas at an estimated cost of $23m (AED85m).

The authority has so far completed 10% of the project, which is expected to be fully operational by 2018.

FEWA has also begun the implementation and construction of 800mm lines from the Water Distribution Centre in New Al Hamra to Ajman and Umm Al Quwain at a cost of $37m (AED135m).

Further reconstructing of the water network in the areas of Hamidiya, Rashidiya and Swan in Ajman at a cost of $4m (AED15m) is in progress. The project is expected to be completed in 2019 and is currently 30% finished.

A majority of the projects are scheduled to be completed in 2018, Mohamed Mohamed Saleh, director-general of FEWA said, according to local reports.

The authority is also constructing two concrete reservoirs with capacity of 10 million gallons each in the area of Heilwa in Ajman at an expected cost of $11m (AED40m), with the project 30% complete.

Additionally, FEWA is working on another concrete tank with a capacity of 2 million gallons in the Al-Mazraa area of the emirate at a cost of $1.9m (AED7m).

He added that the authority is currently working on the reconstruction of the water network in the Zahra area at a cost of $6.5m (AED24m), which is also 30% complete.
