The Dubai Frame will open to the public next month, it has been announced.

The announcement came during a visit by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to the 150-metre-high, 93-metre-wide structure.

The tower is built to resemble a huge picture frame, through which landmarks representing modern Dubai such as Emirates Towers and Burj Khalifa can be seen on one side, while from the other side, visitors can view older parts of the city such as Deira, Umm Harare and Karama.

Sheikh Mohammed was accompanied by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.

Last week, Dubai Municipality released a statement after a local news report incorrectly indicated that the Dubai Frame would be completed in December.

Mohammed Mubarak Al Mutaiwei, assistant director general for communication and community sector and the official spokesperson of Dubai Municipality said in an official statement that the project will be opened soon after completion of all project works and operations.

The frame was designed by award-winning architect Fernando Donis, who also designed Dubai’s Porsche Design Towers, and the Dubai Renaissance Tower.
