Dubai Municipality’s food and safety department announced the launch of its new smart system. This will enable customers to print their documents, health certificates electronically without the need to visit the government office to obtain hard copies.

The department processes 9000 transactions every month, with about 2000 customers visiting the branch for this purpose. The system will save time and reduce the extra efforts needed , said Essam Al Hashmi , Head of the Food Trade Control Section at the Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality.

“The smart system will have a significant impact in reducing the number of customers in the municipality offices and achieve customer happiness through providing online services, which saves them the trouble of visiting the municipality in person. In addition to that, it will also contribute in saving the amount of paper that was previously consumed in the municipality through the printing process,” said Al Hashimi.

The smart system is also helpful to officials in countries where the food items are exported; it allows them to verify the certificates by scanning the QR code or using the Dubai municipality website.

“The smart system supports the Dubai Smart Plan 2021, announced by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. He has declared 2021 as the deadline for the last government paper transaction, as part of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the Government of Dubai into a smart model,” said Al Hashimi

Furthermore, Al Hashimi conveyed the vision Dubai Municipality has; to achieve customer happiness and satisfaction through their services via the smart electronic device.
