Uber has now started a vehicle with self-driving abilities. The self-sufficient car will have traditional controls like brake pedals and steering wheels. It is designed for use by computers rather than humans.

Raquel Urtasun, Chief Scientist of Uber Advanced Technologies, showed the company’s artificial intelligence tech that enables it to travel in autonomous mode over large distances on the highways. This is without any navigational support and maps. While on the road the self-driving car will plan its navigation system and take the ideal route available.

“Our aim is to make sure in a better, safer, cheaper way each one of you reach where you want to go,” Urtasun said.

As the race to be the greater and better autonomous vehicle manufacturer grows, other companies are also preparing to present their spin-off versions.

By the first half of 2019, W motors, a UAE based car manufacturing company, will be launching MUSE. It will be a fully electric, level 4 and level 5 autonomous system.

Formerly, Uber had purchased around 250 XC90 SUV’s and renovated them for indepedent use.

According to May Hofer, the new vehicles will be embedded with the code number 519G. It will be more reliable and will follow superior standards for safety. Also, it will replace the old cars from the uber fleet soon.
