One of the largest aluminium producers in the world, Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), has added a state-of-the-art, custom-made fire truck to its existing fleet of emergency vehicles in order to strengthen the efficiency of response to emergencies within the plant.

This comes in line with the philosophy of ‘Think Safety First and Always’, said a statement from Alba.

The fire truck was unveiled at a key ceremony organized in Alba premises. Which was attended by Ali Al Baqali Acting Chief Executive Officer, Director for SHE Moh’d Khalil, Senior Superintendent of Fire & Security Hamad Janahi and Deputy Director of Operations - Bahrain Civil Defence Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Ghadeer along with other key officials.

The fire truck was built in consent with the international fire safety standards as well as Bahrain’s requirements to serve Alba’s operational plants and was designed and manufactured in the US. Fire team and The Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) played a key role in the construction, design and commissioning of this fire truck.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Baqali mentioned, "While policies and procedures are key to maintaining safety on the job, the right safety equipment enables us to keep our people and plant safe." He also stated, "An ultramodern Fire Truck is not just the need-of-the-hour but a long-term investment to meet the current and future Safety demands of a production facility as big as Alba".Colonel Mohammed Ahmed Al Ghadeer, Deputy Director of Operation Department at Civil Defence said: "As one of the leaders in Public Safety, Vocational Health, Safety and Fire Prevention, Alba has identified the potential direct and indirect threat to employees’ health in its plant and taken the imperative steps to protect its environment and facilities through prevention and alertness for any emergencies."

Colonel Al Ghadeer also stated, “The new Fire Truck is furnished with modern technology and new fire appliances, which will empower the team to carry out emergency operations more effectively. The new Fire Truck will certainly enhance the Company’s alertness and effective response to different incidents. Especially electric fires, as it is equipped to remotely handle electric fire incidents, which would help control the fire at early stages".
