ITC stated that it also reiterated that the maximum standards of safety and security are being adhered to in its determined and arduous efforts in transforming its entire fleet of vehicles into eco-friendly vehicles, which in turn would lead to the public’s gratification.

This step comes in part of ITC’s keenness to upgrade the quality of life, to preserve the environment, and minimize detrimental emissions affecting humans and the environment. ITC also mentioned that 85% of the 6390 taxi vehicles in Abu Dhabi are eco-friendly vehicles.

Mohammed Hamad Al Muhairi, the Executive Director of the Public Transport Sector at ITC stated, "In co-operation with the eight taxi operating companies, ITC concluded the installment of new meters (Mobile Data Units) in all taxis". Al Muhairi also guaranteed that the taxi transport services are being developed to establish its high quality, safety and security. ITC can learn about the program of taxis, through electronic inspections of performance control system.

"Messages will be sent to the taxi drivers using the new meters from the booking units. To guide them to the locations with the most demand and advise them with information about the traffic. This service devote to facilitate monitoring taxis," stated Al Muhairi.

ITC mentioned that the current number of taxis is 6390, which is operated by eight companies such as Abu Dhabi International Airport with 222 high-standard vehicles, which are spacious and comfortable. The other companies include Arabia Taxi, Al Ghazal Taxi, Cars Taxi, Emirates Taxi, Emirates Transport Taxi, Tawasul Transport and National Taxi - are all employing professional drivers who have undergone training courses.

ITC in its efforts to boost the quality of services and satisfaction, added 182 family taxis to its fleet and 21 vehicles precisely equipped to serve People of Determination and the elderly.
