UAE's thriving 3D printing sector to reach AED2.2 billion by 2025

The additive manufacturing and 3D printing sector in the UAE is estimated to increase three times every year to reach AED2.2 billion ($598.97 million) by 2025. It is predicted that the sector will add AED11 billion to the UAE’s GDP by 2028, contributing to over 1.0% of the GDP and producing around 3% of the 3D-printing global market share. This is because more advanced applications are being produced and the number of organisations embracing this technology along with the rapid increase in demand from the local and the regional companies for 3D printing solutions.

The future towards this industry was recently founded after Immensa Technology Labs, represented by its CEO and Founder Fahmi Al Shawwa, met with HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation, DFF, in a meeting that was coordinated by the Dubai Future Foundation. Led by DFF, His Highness eastablished the 3D Printing Strategic Alliance, a step taken to build an all-inclusive structure of government bodies, academia, and international and local 3D-printing companies.

During the meeting, His Highness disclosed his personal interest and involvement in setting up UAE’s 3D-printing capacity and reiterated the government’s support towards the companies working in this field. He was also informed about the challenges the sector is facing and the advancement done over the past few years.

The Dubai Future Foundation has always stood by the government in supporting, assisting, and promoting companies working in the private sector. They have organised 3D-printing industry roundtables that had dozens of different companies participating, which allowed and enabled direct interaction between various government bodies and the private sector.
