Sirajpower Commissions Lifco's 2MWP Solar Rooftop Plant at Dubai Industrial City

After only 5 months of design and installation, SirajPower turned on the Solar Rooftop System on LIFCO’s head office in Dubai Industrial City (DIC). Lifco is one of the largest consumer food distributors in the UAE since 1975.

The commissioned 2 MWp solar rooftop plant is said to produce 3.5 GWh of clean energy per year and is expected to set off 2,500 tons of carbon emissions annually.Through the close collaboration with LIFCO’s team of engineers, SirajPower achieved yet another project for the Commercial & Industrial sector.

Recently, SirajPower, UAE’s foremost distributed solar energy provider, has been chosen by Dubai developer Danube as its novel solar partner for its projects in Dubai. The group appointed SirajPower to take over the financing, operation, and maintenance of its 1MWp solar power plant spread across Jafza and Dubai TechnoPark.

According to a statement by SirajPower “The solar project will cover 13,000 sq m roof area and is predicted to generate 1.7 GWh of annual energy production”. The first PV solar modules have already been installed on 4 solar rooftop plants that are spread across Jafza and Technopark.

It further added that “This project will also help displace over 1,200 metric tonne of carbon dioxide emission (Co2) per annum, equivalent to more than 150 million smartphones being charged”.

Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) counselled UAE distributed solar energy provider SirajPower on the US$50m portfolio financing of rooftop solar photovoltaic assets from multilateral development financial institution The Arab Petroleum Investments Corporate (“APICORP”).

The WFW team directing SirajPower was managed by Partner and Dubai Office Head Andrew Baird, supported by London-based Associate Tom Harrison-Cripps.

Andrew commented, “This transaction is a first-of-its-kind in the GCC renewables market and we are proud to have supported SirajPower through to its successful closing. Our contribution in this innovative financing demonstrates our pledge to the renewable energy industry globally and its evolution in the GCC region. We look onward to supporting SirajPower further as they continue to grow their business”.
