UAE introducing its one of its kind alternative to plastic water bottles


UAE, according to the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA), with temperature rising to 42 degrees in the month of August and dropping to 12 degrees in the month of January is known to be the thirstiest country. These climatic determinants is continuing to propel the bottled water market.

Functional water's broad portfolio, involving alterations in the packaging level to design a creative appeal, micronutrient infusion and addition of demanding flavours is propelling the market for functional/fortified and flavoured water section. A large expansion is anticipated towards functional water. Occupying a powerful category with business across numerous companies, sales platforms and distribution channels has already begun to look anew to bring about solutions that are innovative to stimulate the growth momentum.

Plastics have become an indivisible element in the modern society. A common citizen consumes on an average 450 plastic water bottles in a single year which is equivalent to 43 gallons of water. Making UAE stand fourth in the consumption of bottled water in the world. UAE’s Ministry of Environment and Water has cited that approximately 11 billion plastic bags are annually used, which leads to an overall annual waste of 912.5 kilogram per capita. UAE has proposed reliable corrective measures where Ministry of Environment and Water has announced a prohibition on marketing and distribution of products made of non-biodegradable plastic from 2021.

"The most feasible substitute for single use plastic bottles, NÜWATER which is the only resealable canned water company in UAE.
