The Wood Industry in the UAE is anticipated to boom over the next two years as the country upgrades construction activities said leading industry experts.

The wood and woodworking machinery industry is said to be highly impacted from the colossal construction projects. The demand for wood, wood products and woodworking industry is projected to grow further due to the continuing construction projects the value of which in previous years had blown up to $252.7 billion, mentions the experts.

There is no doubt that the construction boom represents unrivalled prospects for all industries, particularly the wood industry, which is likely to get a shot in the arm from the region’s $2.4 trillion worth of construction projects. The rise in construction activities will carry on to drive demand for wood products, interior decor, wood-based accessories, woodworking machineries and wood flooring materials, all required for the new structures and hotels.

Experts further states that the demand for wood products is estimated to be driven also by the new hotel projects.

Dubai will enhance thousands of hotel rooms and service apartments to meet the mounting demand of tourists. According to a study led by Dubai Tourism, the emirate’s hotel room supply is set to reach 132,000. In the past, total number of hotel rooms, comprising hotel apartments, in Dubai were put at 112,381.

It is also expected that the UAE's hospitality market will reach $7.6 billion by 2022, growing at a five-year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.5% between 2017 and 2022. At present, Dubai’s hotel sector acquires more than 100,000 hotel rooms and serviced apartments.

Manufacturers and suppliers of wood products can influence from the region’s fast-budding market and win the rewards of supreme opportunities produced from the expansion in the UAE’s construction market.

The wood and furniture market appear very promising, especially with 70% of the timber and wood products are used in construction industry while the rest are used in real estate, furniture, interiors and other industrial applications, the experts added.
