UAE's Medcare partners with Israel hospital to boost medical services

The Aster DM Healthcare Group's Medcare Women & Children Hospital in the United Arab Emirates recently signed an agreement with Sheba Medical Center in Tel Aviv, Israel, to "facilitate knowledge exchange across various specialties."

The agreement will also enable doctors from both medical institutions to collaborate “to deliver the best to UAE and further improve the standard of treatment for patients, promote specialized medical training, and upscaling of expertise and capabilities at the hospital,” according to Aster DM Healthcare Group in a statement.

The relationship came about as a result of the signing of the Abraham Accords, also known as the Treaty of Peace, Diplomatic Relations, and Full Normalization Between the UAE and the State of Israel, at The White House in September of last year.

“We started looking at opportunities for cooperation with Israeli healthcare providers after the Abraham Accord was signed and contacts between the UAE and Israel were established. We choose Sheba, which has been named one of the top ten best hospitals in the world,” Aster DM Healthcare's founder, chairman, and managing director, Dr. Azad Moopen said.

“We are ecstatic that this partnership will serve as a model for future cooperation between the two organizations in the field of health care, resulting in increased innovation and research projects,” he added.

Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, director general of Sheba Medical Center, said, "This latest partnership between Medcare Women & Children's Hospital and Sheba Medical Center marks yet another giant move forward in creating bridges between our two nations and giving hope beyond borders to those seeking medical care."

“Sheba is proud to deliver our best doctors in the women's health arena, where we are integrating some of the most innovative technological therapies in the world for Medcare's patients. We are confident that with this partnership, we will be able to uphold Medcare's commitment to provide superior healthcare to the citizens of the UAE region,” added Yoel Har-Even, Director of Sheba International.

The information sharing between Medcare Women & Children Hospital and Sheba Medical Center will concentrate on specialized care for women's health, including endometriosis, minimally invasive surgery, reproductive endocrinology, and foetal medicine. “This will open medical professionals to cutting-edge research programs, training, and groundbreaking therapies, which will serve to advance the health service that is provided to patients in these specialties,” Medcare said.

Sheba Medical Center is comprised of many medical units, a 2,000-bed capacity, and 75 laboratories. The hospital focuses on the welfare of women and girls. Its neonatal department has repeatedly been recognized as the best in Israel, and its gynaecologic oncology department provides a range of therapies for gynaecologic cancers and is involved in cancer research.
