The UAE is eager to invest in Pakistan's agriculture sector.

Though bilateral trade between the two countries was satisfactory, Hammad Obaid Ibrahimi AlZaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, said there was a significant potential to further develop trade and investment links in agriculture, for which different bilateral agreements needed to be rejuvenated and updated.

During a meeting with the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the envoy said that UAE investors were eager to come to Pakistan to engage in a variety of industries, with agriculture being the "most significant."

The ambassador believes that investment opportunities exist in all of Pakistan's provinces, particularly in agriculture and other areas. “For us, Pakistan is a brotherly country, and we consider it to be our second home,” he said, adding that the UAE Embassy actively works with the Pakistani business community and does everything possible to help them. The envoy stated that he would return to Karachi in September 2021 to engage with the city's business community once again.

He said the UAE has been giving golden visas to investors with no investment limitations and experts for a period of ten years, and urged the business community to take advantage of the opportunity.

Earlier, KCCI President M Shariq Vohra welcomed the ambassador, saying that Pakistan and the UAE had had strong connections for many years and that it was encouraging to see so many Pakistanis working in the UAE and contributing significantly to its development and modernization.

“UAE businessmen must come to invest in Pakistan, which offers profitable potential in a variety of areas, particularly agriculture,” he said, referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan's remarks during the visit of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Pakistan-UAE trade is currently worth more than $5 billion.
