UAE sign agreement with Israel to digitise healthcare services

Chairman of the Federal Group and Smart Vision for Information Technology, Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Saeed Bin Shakhbout al Nahyan has signed a collaboration agreement with Digital Health Innovation 2048 (DHI 2048) to speed up the adoption of Israel's best-in-class digital health products and innovative solutions.

The unveiling is part of the newest collaboration to improve ties between the UAE and Israel, after the Abraham Accords inked last year on August 13, 2020. The formal launch of DHI 2048, which was backed by the Department of Tourism & Commerce Marketing (DTCM), was attended by ambassadors from the UAE and Israel, as well as representatives from health ministries and other government agencies.

“We are overjoyed to announce the new collaboration between Smart Vision for Information Systems and Digital Health Innovation, which seeks to digitize healthcare service delivery in the UAE. This collaboration will usher in a new age of delivering healthcare-related services in the region utilizing Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, reducing the time and effort required to generate correct results and further improving the quality of healthcare services,” said Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Saeed Bin Shakhbout al Nahyan.

Adiv Baruch, chairman of DHI 2048, discussed how advancements in digital healthcare solutions will benefit everyone. The Covid-19 epidemic has expedited numerous digital processes, creating an increased need for cost-effective and efficient healthcare delivery methods. “The UAE and Israel's timely partnership will go above and beyond, adopting a hands-on approach to healthcare delivery across the Mena area. The deployment of Nanox systems, trainings, and cutting-edge AI technologies is just the beginning, and we want to significantly accelerate the expansion of the health care industry with the help of our regional stakeholders.”

The partnership between the UAE and Israel will be extremely beneficial to the health sector, including both public and private facilities. Over $2 billion is expected to be deployed in the next four years with the introduction of DHI 2048. The collaborative platform seeks to install 2100 Nanox systems in public and private hospitals, train the workforce, including nurses, and use artificial technology to establish a solid healthcare ecosystem in collaboration with its Israeli partners, Nanox and Illumigyn. The launch of this technology is meant to further the objective of delivering a global end-to-end medical imaging solution that allows individuals to have early medical detection and improved health.

The healthcare ecosystem is undergoing a paradigm change toward providing accessibility, assisting with affordability, and providing clients with high-quality services. The UAE's health spending surpassed $15 billion in 2020 and is anticipated to reach $16.0 billion in 2021, representing a 6.6% year-on-year rise. Furthermore, expenditure is expected to reach $20.2 billion by 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate of 7.2%.
