Salem Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, discussed possibilities of increasing commercial and economic cooperation between the UAE and India with K. Kalimutu, Indian Consul General for Trade and Economy in Dubai.

Both sides discussed the investment opportunities offered by Ajman, appropriate ways to increase trade and foreign investments, and how to encourage the private sector to expand and diversify its operations during the meeting, which was held at the chamber's headquarters and attended by Mohammed Ali Al Janahy, Executive Director of the Chamber's Trade and International Relations Development Sector.

"The UAE and Ajman have strong commercial and economic relations with India, which are growing," Al Suwaidi said, emphasising the chamber's commitment to provide commercial facilities and services to help promote the two nations' commercial ties and economic partnerships.

In the first half of 2021, the Ajman Chamber granted a total of 274 certificates of origin for exports from the emirate to India, worth a total of AED25.9 million, while the total number of certificates of origin for re-exports was 361, worth a total of AED41.1 million.

Plastic products being one of the section the exports is focused focused on.

In the first half of 2021, 2,261 Indian companies registered in the emirate, according to the chamber's statistics.
