Chevron has entered into a manufacturing deal with Tristar (AML) in East Africa.

Chevron Brands International LLC (Chevron) and the Tristar Group's AFAL Manufacturing Limited (AML) have signed a long-term licencing agreement for the manufacturing, distribution, and marketing of CaltexTM lubricants in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

Chevron has enhanced its existing strong footprint in East Africa by signing this arrangement and entrusting its activities to AML as a licensee. Caltex branded lubricants have been accessible in East African countries since 2013 thanks to a distribution arrangement with Africa Fuels & Lubricants Ltd (AFAL), a Tristar Group company.

Chevron will supply world-class technology, while AML will blend, sell, and distribute Caltex-branded lubricants through its wide network. The partnership aims to effectively carve out a portion of the competitive East African lubricants industry by using the combination of Caltex's strong brand power and AML's wide market reach.

“Chevron has a seven-decade history in East Africa, and we have worked with AFAL since 2013. This new deal also includes future lubricant mixing options,” said Douglas Rankine, GM Middle East & Africa-Fuels & Lubricants.

“We are sure that local blending is a step in the right way for this company to stay competitive, and we will make every effort to improve the Caltex brand's position in East Africa,” he said. Tristar Group CEO Eugene Mayne.

Chevron and the Tristar Group are spending more in the East African area to fulfil an ever-increasing need for Caltex branded lubricants, which span the consumer, commercial, and industrial sectors.
