Taqa Arabia, Egypt’s largest private sector energy distribution company, said it has begun commercial operations at a 6 MW PV solar power plant for Dina Farms in the Beheira governorate.

The plant is funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development as part of a financing package of up to USD10 million to expand TAQA Arabia’s renewable energy business.

The PV power plant will enable Dina Farms, the largest dairy farm in Africa, to cover part of its energy consumption with clean energy. TAQA PV for Solar Energy, TAQA Arabia’s renewable energy subsidiary, will sell all its generated energy to Dina Farms under a 25 year power purchase agreement.

Both TAQA Arabia and Dina Farms are part of Qalaa Holdings SAE, a company that invests in energy and infrastructure.
