Officials from Etihad Rail and Western Bainoona Group attended the signing ceremony.
Etihad Rail, the creator and operator of the UAE's National Rail Network, announced a strategic alliance with Western Bainoona Group.
According to the terms of the agreement, Etihad Rail will provide rail freight services for the transportation of construction materials from Western Bainoona Group's facilities in Fujairah to Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
This is one of Etihad Rail's main business collaborations for the UAE's National Rail Project's Stage Two.
Western Bainoona Group's aggregates will be transported annually on 643 trains from the group's facilities in Fujairah to logistical hubs in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD) and Dubai Industrial City under the terms of the agreement. Etihad Rail will allocate 70 waggons for each train (about 1 km length), with a capacity of 7,000 tonnes per trip.
'Western Bainoona Group is honoured to be one of Etihad Rail's partners,' stated Group Chairman Mohammed Khalfan Al Hameli. We intend to use the rail network's freight solutions to strengthen and facilitate trade between the emirates. The network will increase the capacity of businesses operating throughout the UAE. Companies may grow their businesses by diverting assets and lowering transportation expenses, allowing them to better use their time and resources to become active participants in the UAE's growth.'
