Tanzanian-UAE relations: President Samia Suluhu's achievements

Samia Suluhu led the signing of 36 Memorandums of Understanding, 12 of which were signed by government public entities.

She said that by partnering with Tanzania, the UAE will get access to the East African Community's 177 million people (EAC).

President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania is creating headlines, the most recent of which is a USD 7.49 billion economic cooperation agreement with the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

At the turn of the week, President Samia, the country's first female president, visited Dubai Expo 2020. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, welcomed her earlier this month.

Sheikh Mohammed and President Samia discussed ways to expand collaboration between their countries, among other things. At the expo, the meeting was intentionally arranged on Tanzania's national day.

The Expo's subject, Connecting Minds, Creating The Future, matched her country's theme, Ready To Take Off, and provided a chance for the two leaders to discuss bilateral relations and expand the commercial potential for both nations.

President Samia used the occasion to welcome UAE investors to Tanzania, stating that Tanzania is 'Ready to Take Off,' in keeping with the Expo theme.

'I'd want to use this occasion to extend a warm welcome to all of you to Tanzania, where the business and investment climate is excellent. 'All are welcome to come to Tanzania,' she remarked.

'Tanzania has always been one of the UAE's closest partners in the region across cultural, economic, and political fronts, and we look forward to expanding our partnership in various areas of mutual interest,' Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai, said of the improving ties between the two countries.

President Samia of Tanzania was the driving force behind the signing of 36 Memorandums of Understanding. Twelve were signed by government agencies, 23 by private sector partners, and one by the Zanzibar Revolutionary Government.

Tanzania's President reassured investors about the country's favourable economic climate. She emphasised Tanzania's peace and political stability, which she claims makes the country a unique investment destination with open doors for investors in all industries.

'Tanzania is strategically positioned, and Dar es Salaam is Africa's internal entrance.' The government recognises the importance of the private sector in promoting business and investment, therefore it maintains and deepens the public-private partnership through open conversations,' she told the investors.

Investors who come to Tanzania will have access to easy and quick company registration, labour, property purchase, business licence, and tax advice services, according to the president.

'The facilitation is given through a one-stop-shop, the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) for Tanzania Mainland and the Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (Zipa) for Zanzibar,' she explained.

Tanzania hosted a business and investment meeting at Dubai Expo 2020, which drew over 400 business leaders from Tanzania and the United Arab Emirates.

Tanzania was able to advertise its investment opportunities as well as numerous industries like as tourism, agriculture, oil and gas, minerals, energy, livestock and fisheries, and general infrastructure development during the event.

'This forum provides opportunities for both countries to consolidate and strengthen economic relations through investment and trade, which aligns with Tanzania's efforts to drive economic growth and sustainable development through industrialization,' said Dr. Ashatu Kijaji, Tanzania's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

"I simply wanted to reassure investors that the new Tanzania administration is open-minded and thinks that business is fostered and flourishes via principles of communication, engagement, trust, long-term cooperation, and collaboration," the minister continued.
