The UAE and Israel have signed an agreement to collaborate in agriculture.

The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MoCCAE) has signed an MoU with Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to collaborate in the field of agriculture.

The five-year agreement calls on the ministries to work together to create and share knowledge, best practises, and technology in order to boost the amount and quality of agricultural produce while also ensuring crop and livestock production's long-term viability.

In keeping with their animal health and food safety regulations, they also want to increase bilateral trade in agricultural and animal products. A joint committee will be formed, which will convene on a regular basis to assess the collaboration's progress, define priorities, and prepare action plans for specific initiatives.

They will also aim to get both countries' organic farming standards recognised, increase technical collaboration, notably in applied R&D in agriculture and beekeeping, and hold joint training sessions for agricultural and food safety specialists and researchers, according to a statement.

"Due to their arid desert environment, the UAE and Israel confront similar problems in creating sustainable, climate-resilient agricultural sectors and increasing food security," Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, stated. Our new cooperation intends to kickstart a dynamic exchange of experience and expertise in these areas in order to assist us accomplish our mutual objectives. Israel is a technology innovator leader, and we look forward to a fruitful collaboration in technology transfer."

"Throughout the years, Israeli agriculture has always been pioneering and progressive. "This new agricultural collaboration between our two countries will lead to better and faster solutions for some of our region's common challenges, such as food security and climate change," said Israel's Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Oded Forer.

The UAE said last year that it wants to increase its business connections with Israel to more than $1 trillion over the next decade.
