Launch of Abu Dhabi's Agriculture and Food Safety Strategy

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, unveiled a three-year plan for the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority to boost the agricultural and food industries.

The 2022-2025 strategy seeks to boost food production and solidify the industry's status as a significant driver of Abu Dhabi's GDP and economic diversification. The primary objective is to realise President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision, which is consistent with the Abu Dhabi government's plans to promote a diverse economy centred on education and empowerment of sustainable agriculture.

The goal of the plan is to strengthen the UAE's position as a leader in the industry while assuring the availability and safety of food. Sheikh Mansour praised the administration and staff of the authority for their efforts in advancing food security in the emirate and setting new records in the food industry.

The policy, according to the authority's Director General Saeed Al Bahri Al Ameri, shows how much importance the wise leadership has placed on the agriculture and food sector as well as its support for the development of a diverse economy.

He said that because of Sheikh Mansour's meticulous care and continued follow-up, the emirate has attained 84% self-sufficiency in nine specific food items in 2021.

In order to create sustainable food systems and address issues affecting the industry, the new plan "offers a road map for the future," according to Al Ameri.

In order to assure sustainable agricultural development, modernise agricultural systems and encourage farmers to embrace the best practises of agricultural sustainability, the strategy is built on active engagement with businesses engaged in agriculture and food production.
