KIZAD Welcomes Abu Dhabi's First Assembly Facility for Electric Vehicles

To meet the rising demand for environmentally friendly transportation solutions, KIZAD, a member of AD Ports Group's Economic Cities & Free Zones, today announced the signing of a lease deal with NWTN. The facility will build electric vehicle (EV) assembly lines in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE-based green mobility technology business NWTN was established in 2016 with the goal of creating Smart Passenger Vehicles (SPV) that use AI technologies and provide individualized passenger experiences. To mark the occasion and highlight NWTN's cutting-edge line of electronic vehicles, a signing ceremony was organised at KIZAD.

According to the deal, KIZAD will build a 25,000 m2 manufacturing, R&D, vehicle testing, and logistics facility that NWTN will initially run. This facility will be used to assemble semi-knocked-down (SKD) electric vehicles, with an annual capacity of 5,000–10,000 units.

Phase two of NWTN's strategy calls for the launch of numerous new Electric Vehicle types and an increase in production capacity to 50,000 units annually.

The announcement, which comes after recent regulatory updates by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) that seek to hasten the development of Electric Vehicle infrastructure as part of Abu Dhabi's Low Emission Vehicle Strategy, is expected to be the first assembly facility for Electric Vehicles in Abu Dhabi.

The new production facility will boost industry knowledge and expand the selection of low-emission vehicles in the UAE, which is in line with the UAE's Net-Zero by 2050 plan.

AD Ports Group is devoted to advancing sustainable manufacturing, and this important strategic relationship with KIZAD will assist our wise leadership's aim to improve industrial competitiveness while safeguarding the environment, stated Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of AD Ports Group.

Attracting electric vehicle manufacturers to Abu Dhabi is consistent with the newly announced Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy and will play a vital role in supporting Abu Dhabi's economic goal.

At AD Ports Group, we are happy to welcome NWTN into our ecosystem and to support their efforts to contribute to a cleaner environment for people in their communities and for future generations.

NWTN's partnership with AD Ports Group's KIZAD, according to Alan Wu, Chairman and CEO of NWTN, forms a cornerstone of our broader global growth strategy by enabling us to efficiently service a wider range of consumers in the Middle East as well as the more expansive Northern Africa and European markets.

The strategic position in KIZAD, with its close proximity to world-class manufacturing infrastructure and direct access to regional and international markets, will enable NWTN to improve its operations over the long run and boost its export potential. With its new site in KIZAD, NWTN will gain access to the vast automotive industry ecosystem of AD Ports Group.
