Jebel Ali Free Zone is emerging as a global automotive logistics hub

Jafza has made a substantial contribution to the development of the nation's automotive industry. Its distinctive logistics system and foreign trade network, in particular, have ensured the sustained growth of the automobile industry by bridging traders in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East with customers.

The infrastructure and trade volumes of Jafza draw industrial titans like Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Volkswagen, and Volvo, as well as businesses from 70 different nations.

Although the Jebel Ali Port is crucial to the automotive industry as a whole, it also consistently contributes to the import and export of used vehicles. Consequently, Dubai's position as a key export centre for used automobiles in the MENA area and the UAE is strengthened.

As long as there is a demand for cars, DP World will continue to see huge rise in the automotive industry through its UAE holdings.

Modern roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) terminal at Jebel Ali Port is essential to its continuous success. There are RoRo berths in the port that can accommodate up to one million automobile equivalent units (CEUs).

Automotive manufacturers, dealers, and importers can also make use of the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) facilities at Jafza before importing or exporting from the Port for services such light accessory fitting, vehicle storage, washing, age prevention, and audio system installation.

Additionally, a one-stop eco-system that serves importers, exporters, and OEM distribution has been developed in Jafza by including third-party logistics (3PL), container services, computerised customs clearance, and brokerage.

Jafza's success has been built on a physical infrastructure, but it has also been aided by customised solutions made available by DP World Logistics to improve supply chain operations for car traders.

Customers in the worldwide automotive industry can benefit from DP World's 78-country presence, which includes specialised RoRo facilities in Cyprus, Romania, Germany, and Dubai.

In Africa, the UAE provides 21% of the automotive trade, or over 7 billion MT of freight per year. With 54 countries and 1.4 billion people, Africa is a large continent.

Particularly, the UAE is essential to the sale of spare parts, a logistical activity that is time sensitive and operationally challenging. With its current multimodal transportation services, the organisation can help commerce with countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Egypt, Angola, and Senegal.

The intra-African network and scope of services offered by DP World were strengthened by the recent purchase of Imperial Logistics, situated in South Africa. In addition to facilitating trade along important trade lanes, DP World's world-class infrastructure, such as its investment and expertise in ports in Africa, combined with Imperial's logistics and market access platforms will increase value for stakeholders and drive greater supply chain efficiencies.
