The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has extended the deadline for submitting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the 900 MW 6th phase of the emirate's Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park to 1st November 2022.

The invitation to interested investors was issued on October 8 with a very tight deadline until October 10.

The 6th phase of the mega project is scheduled for grid connection in stages between 2025 and 2027, DEWA said on 22nd October.

When fully completed in year 2030, the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park will have a capacity of 5,000 MW. At present, the park's production capacity in operation is 1,727 MW from PV solar panels. Further projects totalling 1,133 MW from photovoltaic solar panels and concentrated solar power (CSP) technologies are being implemented currently.
