A new factory has been established in the Khalifa Industrial Zone of Abu Dhabi (KIZAD), United Arab Emirates, by Gulf Printing and Packaging, a subsidiary of Al Khat Packaging.
The facility is situated in KIZAD's food and packaging sector and was built with an investment of AED100m ($27.22m).The facility is anticipated to employ more than 200 workers once it reaches capacity.
The facility uses equipment from the Heidelberg, Bobst and Kohmann brands for printing and packaging.
Mohamed Abou Khalid, CEO of Gulf Printing and Packaging, stated: "The new plant in KIZAD is a key component of our expansion strategy".
KIZAD's location just ten kilometres from Khalifa Port and midway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai gives us quick access to a variety of international shipping destinations, top-notch infrastructure, committed investor supportĀ and much more.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports, added:"By utilising the synergies present in our food and packaging cluster, we are convinced that KIZAD's strategic location and the services we offer will continue to support Gulf Printing and Packaging's and its clients' growth."
For McDonald's in the GCC, Gulf Printing and Packaging has the sole right to supply all print carton materials.The company will print all of McDonald's packaging in the UAE and Oman at the KIZAD factory.
The factory will produce folding paper packaging and printing goods for various brands in the UAE.
Other markets, including Saudi Arabia and South Africa are anticipated to be served by the facility.
Products made at the factory will be sold through Khalifa Port, the company's principal port.
