Global property developer The First Group has revealed that foundations are nearly completed on the world’s largest hotel, Ciel, which is set to be located in Dubai Marina.

Standing at 365-metres tall and scheduled to open in 2023, Ciel is being built by The First Group along with development partner China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC), who are also the main contractor.

More than 11,800 cubic metres of concrete and in excess of 3,000 tonnes of steel are being used to construct the building’s foundations.

The largest concrete pour, completed this week, comprised 7,000 cubic metres of concrete over a continuous 48-hour period and the final pour will consist of 1,000 cubic metres of concrete, which is scheduled for 3 September 2020.

Designed by architectural firm NORR, Ciel will feature 1,042 guestrooms including 150 suites, premium guest amenities and facilities, such as the Ciel Observatory & Lounge on the 81st floor and a rooftop Sky Terrace featuring an infinity pool, bar and observation deck.

Commenting on the construction progress, The First Group CEO Rob Burn said: “Ciel is The First Group’s 18th project in Dubai and our largest and most complex undertaking to date.
