The UAE has despatched many aircraft carrying mpox vaccines to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, South Africa, Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon, according to Emirates News Agency WAM.
The program intends to support the five African countries' efforts to treat and mitigate the viral outbreak, which the World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated a global health emergency.
Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of State, stated in a statement that the help "affirms the country's steadfast commitment to assisting other nations during crises and disasters."
He continued: "The initiative reflects the UAE's commitment to humanitarian values as part of its ongoing commitment to extend a helping hand and assist impacted communities across the world."
The UAE had already set aside $5 million for polio vaccinations in Gaza when the enclave saw its first case in 25 years, despite the ongoing conflict impeding significant humanitarian efforts.
The WHO launched the vaccination campaign with the goal of vaccinating more than 640,000 Gazan youngsters under the age of ten.
The United Arab Emirates and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) have inked a $7 million deal to support humanitarian efforts in war-torn South Sudan and Sudan. $6 million and $1 million, respectively, are allotted by the agreement for UNICEF's efforts in Sudan and South Sudan.
