The largest 220 kV substation in the network was recently installed by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) and is situated near the Umm Fannin airport. The move, which will cost more than AED 500 million, is intended to improve Sharjah City's energy infrastructure.
The project was completed in cooperation with General Projects Company for Mechanical and Electrical Contracting and Siemens Energy.
"The authority is dedicated to continuously developing power transmission and distribution networks throughout Sharjah," said Hamad Al-Tunaiji, Director of Energy Transmission.
To guarantee quality, efficiency, and dependability in the provision of sustainable energy, the project was carried out in accordance with the strictest international standards.
The expansion will meet the city's increasing energy demand and enhance the flexibility and dependability of the electrical grid. The new substation serves key areas of Sharjah and has a total capacity of over 1,200 MW, including four 400 MVA transformers (220/132 kV) and four 75 MVA transformers (132/33 kV).
