During an official visit to Japan from April 13 to 16, the UAE team was led by Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Special Envoy to Japan.
Dr. Al Jaber had high-level discussions with Japanese authorities throughout the visit, including the Ministers of Trade, Economy, and Foreign Affairs.
The discussions were centered on boosting cooperation in key areas such as energy, trade, investment, and advanced technology.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed progress on joint projects and explored new opportunities for strengthening economic ties.
The agreement between ADNOC and Mitsui is expected to result in the supply of up to 0.6 million tonnes of LNG per annum from ADNOC's lower-carbon Ruwais LNG project, demonstrating a strengthening of the energy partnership between the two countries.
The low-carbon ammonia generated by Fertiglobe and provided by ADNOC to support the production of clean electricity was also welcomed by Japan.
UAE-Japan bilateral trade reached nearly $50 billion in 2024 (including oil-related products) while non-oil trade reached nearly $17.5 billion, with the UAE still Japan's most important trading partner in the GCC.
