Abu Dhabi announces plans to manufacture cars, aiming to create 7,000 skilled jobs and a 27 billion USD automotive plan

One of Abu Dhabi's most ambitious projects to date is the establishment of a comprehensive hub for the global automobile sector.

The project will encompass the entire ecosystem for the "end-to-end" demands of the automotive sector, not just the assembly of cars and other vehicles in the United Arab Emirates. That would open up opportunities in R&D as well as support industries that deal with the automobile industry.

The goal is to add Dh100 billion to the UAE GDP and create 7,000 highly skilled jobs over the next 20 years, under the direction of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

Automobile manufacturers like Chinese EV manufacturer ROX Motors and South Korean manufacturer Genesis have announced manufacturing deals with W Motors in Abu Dhabi. "Building the emirate as a production hub for regional and international markets" is the goal of this.

Additionally, the automotive assembly company AIH Group is "now embedded in the local manufacturing landscape" as the technical lead for the production of high-volume vehicles.

With EVs and the potential for autonomous driving, the global automotive industry is undergoing one of its generational shifts. By establishing the networks and capabilities for self-driving projects, Abu Dhabi has been setting the standard.

Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, Chief Industry and Trade Officer at ADIO, stated that Abu Dhabi is rapidly emerging as a nexus for global automotive innovation.

"Our industrial ecosystem is the perfect platform for businesses aiming to localize, scale, and lead because it combines cutting-edge infrastructure, regulations focused on the future, and access to high-growth markets."

"ADIO is dedicated to supporting high-impact manufacturing investments that fortify supply chains, generate skilled employment, and generate long-term economic value as we shape the future of mobility from the UAE."
