UAE to Invest $2 Million to Support Healthcare in Africa

International Medical Corps - UK has signed a cooperation agreement with the UAE Aid Agency to provide healthcare to Sudanese communities. The UAE Aid Agency is contributing $2 million to the project.

Three teams from the International Medical Corps will be sent out to offer outpatient consultations, health services for mothers and children, immunizations, nutrition screening and treatment, and community outreach to prevent disease and identify cases of malnutrition.

Besides strengthening referral pathways for obstetric and GBV care, the project plans to provide essential medicines and nutrition commodities to IDP settlements, providing safe water to women and children.

We will also distribute hygiene kits, kitchen sets, blankets, and other essential household items to the most vulnerable displaced families in order to improve their living conditions and restore their dignity.

Rashid Al Shamsi, Executive Director of Logistics at UAE Aid Agency, and David Eastman, Managing Director of International Medical Corps - UK, jointly signed the document in the presence of Dr. Tareq Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency.

Additionally, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the UAE Aid Agency recently signed a cooperation agreement to enhance the delivery of critical humanitarian and relief aid to people impacted in Sudan.
