UAE's Healthcare Sector will be strengthened through the Reorganization of the Emirates Health Services Board


Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has authorized the reorganization of the Emirates Health Services board of directors, which will be presided over by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh.

Sheikh Maktoum Butti Suhail Butti Al Maktoum, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Office in Dubai; Dr. Aisha Mohammed Abdullah Yaseen, Board Member of Ras Al Khaimah Medical and Health Sciences University; Abdulwahab Al Halabi, Board Member at Burjeel Holdings; Mohammed Omar Karim, Chief Investment Officer at Dubai Holding Group; and Nitin Khanna Kumar Khanna comprise the new board of directors.

The Cabinet is the government authority that oversees Emirates Health Services. Its main duties include establishing and managing federal hospitals, health centers, and medical facilities while improving their performance and efficiency; proposing and supervising the implementation of policies, strategies, and standards related to public and preventive healthcare across the nation; and bolstering the effectiveness of the federal healthcare sector and providing the essential curative, preventive, and primary care services.

The Authority is also tasked with developing and empowering the nation's healthcare talent, attracting top experts in all medical specialties, implementing cutting-edge technologies, digital solutions, artificial intelligence, and best practices in healthcare delivery in accordance with international standards, and certifying federal hospitals and health centers to function as accredited medical education centers. Additionally, it promotes and supports medical research and studies that are intended to advance the healthcare industry and its facilities.

The Board of Directors is in the position of proposing the Authority's general policy and supervising its execution after Cabinet approval; endorsing the systems, rules, and operational plans required for the Authority's efficient operation; and issuing the rules, policies, controls, and standards governing the Authority's and its affiliated facilities' operations.

At the national level, the Board also contributes to the creation of a comprehensive national health insurance ecosystem in collaboration with pertinent organizations and in compliance with industry best practices and established standards.
