Prysmian to support power transmission system expansion projects in Kuwait

Prysmian Group has received two new contracts, valued more than €50m, to support the power transmission system expansion projects in Kuwait.

As part of the contract awarded by Kuwait Minister for Electricity & Water (MEW), Prysmian will support MEW 06 Jaber Al Ahmed City project, which is a part of the Kuwait power transmission system expansion plan.

The plan is intended to boost the main transmission networks and also enable secure power supplies across the country.

The second contract has been awarded by ROBT, a joint venture of Rizzani de Eccher-OHL under a larger scope contract with MPW to support the Jamal Abdel Nasser Street project.

The Jamal Abdel Nasser Street project forms part of the substantial upgrade of one of the main traffic artery in the middle of Kuwait City to the status of an Express-Way.

This project also includes diversion of a high voltage underground line.

As part of the two contracts, Prysmian will be responsible for design, engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services of HV underground cable systems for a total of 210km of 132kV cable and related network components for both projects.

Installation work is scheduled to commence in 2015 and is expected to be completed during 2016.
