Cubis, a Lurgan-based manufacturer with a workforce of more than 120, has won a six-figure export contract from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Enterprise and Trade Minister Arlene Foster welcomed news of the contract to re-vamp the telecommunications network in Abu Dhabi and described it as “a tremendous boost for manufacturing in Northern Ireland”.

She added: “The contract puts this progressive company in a strong position to secure further business in other parts of the UAE as the new telecoms system is rolled out in Abu Dhabi and across the region.

"It’s also in a new business sector for the company, which in the past has supplied products for irrigation systems in Dubai and to the oil industry in neighbouring Oman.”

The company won the contract after participating with Invest NI in the GITEX 2014 technology trade show in Dubai last October.

Cian Cantwell, Cubis’s director of international sales, said the company benefitted enormously from the advice it received at the trade show. “We see the new contract as an important reference site for our products and expertise.”

The company already exports to Europe, Asia and Australasia
