Dudley-based Midtherm Flue Systems has purchased a new forming line that enables it to roll and weld tubes automatically.

The company, which supplied the flue systems for the service plant at the Burj Dubai — the world’s tallest building — now has the capability to double production at its existing premises, helping it to compete with products that are imported from European manufacturers.

The business has also extended its manufacturing facility by 8,000 sq ft and intends to buy additional machinery in the future.

In order to purchase the new equipment, Midtherm turned to Lloyds Bank for funding, and the banking group agreed to provide a £750,000 loan. The Regional Growth Fund also offered a further £160,000.
