A Ferrari experience at Dubai Motor Festival

As over 30 classic and exotic Italian icons from Ferrari stood gleaming in the Dubai mid-afternoon sun, excited children and adults took the opportunity to take pictures and selfies standing near the cars.

In what can be called a 'sea of Ferraris' the weekend was certainly made for hundreds of supercar lovers and some of the owners. They experienced a stunning collection of Ferrari supercars displayed at the City Walk on Saturday. Owners of the Italian cars lined the road at City Walk to celebrate the upcoming Dubai Motor Festival.

Thousands of residents, locals and tourists posed for pictures with the cars.

Twelve-year old Valentine from France was spotted posing with the Ferraris along with her 8-year old sister Gwendoline and their friend, 11-year old Maxine.

"We came to City Walk with our parents just for this Ferrari show. We love these cars and they look even more beautiful parked all in a row. This is something that we will not forget," she said.

Festival Director, Jin Chwen Ong told Khaleej Times: "The Ferrari gathering provided the perfect precursor to the excitement that lies ahead in the third edition of Dubai Motor Festival including the Grand Parade, Marques D'Elegnace and best decorated National Day car competition."

The lineup of the supercars was definitely very special. Starting with the 512 TR, all the way to the greatest and latest La Ferrari; the 488GTB, the 458 Italias; the Ferrari California; and the F355 were some of the cars on display.

Paulo Pereira, Events Director of the Ferrari Owners Club said: "It was a very nice mix of types from colours and different models."

The event was hosted in association with the City Walk developer Meraas, and in conjunction with the Ferrari Owners Club UAE.

The Ferrari Club has over 170 members in the UAE, of which most of them are in Dubai and the remaining in Abu Dhabi. He said club members will take part in the Dubai Grand Parade and are looking forward to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the month. Jude Melli is an ardent Ferrari fan, and not surprisingly so, as his father owns one of them.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our car and also have a good look at all the other models on show. We are excited to participate in this Dubai Motor Festival event," said Jude, a Syrian national.

Fethi, who is also a French national, had brought his family to City Walk after hearing about the Ferrari gathering. His children, seven-year-old Feriel and her six-year-old brother, Haroun were busy taking photographs with their tablet.

"This is a magnificent spectacle. My son loves the Ferrari, so we just could not afford to miss this gathering," said Fethi.

Organised by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), the third edition of the Dubai Motor Festival will be held from November 10 to 21 under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
