A French company will invest €10 million in fisheries industries in the western Iranian province of Lorestan.

A French delegation is in Lorestan to evaluate the potentials of Aligudarz city in breeding salmon.

The CEO of France's Aqualande Cooperative Group Vincent Pitti described Lorestan as a province with great investment potentials adding, "The region is truly convenient for investment in the production of eyed salmonid eggs," Pitti told reporters during his trip to Lorestan.Pitti noted that the company's investment in fisheries for producing salmon fingerlings in Aligudarz will reach a total of €10 million. "The capital will be devoted to the creation of a large unit for annual production of 250 million eyed eggs," he maintained.

Head of Lorestan Agricultural Jihad Department said the French delegation has approved the quality of water for producing baby salmon after conducting studies in the region over the past few days.

Mehrdad Qazanfari referred to the province's annual output of 20 tons of salmon and reproduction of 130 million baby salmon asserting, "Lorestan ranks first in cold-water fish production among non-coastal provinces.

"With the construction of the salmon breeding complex by the French company, the country will no longer need to import the fish," he added.

Lorestan governor also stressed the need for necessary infrastructures including access road and electricity for the construction of the complex.

Houshang Bazvand noted, "French investors have called for creating infrastructures in the area and we feel obliged to fulfill their needs."
